Acton Market Christmas Festival -
December 2008Stall holders were open from
Thursday 18th December until
Christmas Eve on the
24th with all kinds of goodies to help Market shoppers get ready for the holiday season.
We had live music from Dick Laurie and the Elastic Band on
Friday 19th September, along with a special visit from the big man himself, Santa, who delighted children in his grotto on both
Friday the
19th and
Saturday 20th December. Local children created amazing art works at our art table and the London Farmers’ Market traders offered free stollen cake, mince pies and delicious Christmas treats.
The highlight of the Acton Market Christmas Festival, though, had to be the first ever live, unrehearsed nativity play, presented by members of Acton’s many churches. Around 30 people were on hand, including several Mary’s, Josephs and a few King Herods to re-enact the Christmas Story. The result was a wonderfully organic performance. The group also gathered Acton Market shoppers together for carol singing, bringing a great sense of the spirit of the season to Acton.
